Xinjiang Riots and how the biased Western news media spin their stories

At least, the "yellow face" used by the New York Times as a "point man" in its China coverage redeemed himself somewhat by covering and reporting a more nuanced story about the victims across Uighur and Han lines resulting from the Urumqi riots. Click on what Edward Wong wrote about one victim family of Han migrants who settled in Urumqi who got victimized:

But ABC News is a totally disgusting creature. A white reporter, namely, Clarissa Ward, tried to spin and embellish a story about the presumably Uighur woman facing down a gantlet of Chinese security forces in an Urumqi street protests staged by some Uighur women whose husbands, brothers, sons, were ensnarled and arrested during the riots.

Her spin, calculated to embellish this Uighur woman and compare her to the young man who faced down a tank on June 4, 1989 at Tiananmen, is full of crock. Rather than report that Chinese police was deliberately tamping down unnecessary arrests and confrontation, and were in fact very non-confrontational because she was an unarmed woman clearly not inflicting violence upon others, this creature of a Western news reporter spun the story as a heroic act of a victim.

Don't just read her spin, but read the reaction from readers who caughter her bias and prejudice. China bashing and Chinese demonization is rampant and endemic in mainstream Amerikan news media. And sadly, our Chinese-Amerikan intellectuals are "brain-dead" or too focused on "whitestreaming" and achieving "honorary whitehood" than to saying it like it is, i.e. the truth.

There's gold in t'ham t'har hills, and in those "Taco Bell" homes in the exurbs.:-) Better be comfy than to rock the boat and be viewed and tagged as a yellow, slimy"shit-disturber" by your white masters. :-) Isn't " Mei-Guo" beautiful ? Even the farts smell more fragrant here.

Calling all Chinese Intellectuals in Blogosphere and in the WEST - Be a media Watchdog to Monitor the Biased Western News Media on their "Spin"

As New York Times Jewish columnist, Thomas Friendman opined:

"The earth is now flat."

Yes indeed. And this means that the net and blogosphere and the techno tools of YouTube, Google, Yahoo, Sina.com, Alibaba, Sohu, and a slew of new media have leveled the playing field for netizens throughout the world to engage in "citizen journalism."

And yes, indeed, we Chinese intellectuals, who are net-savvy, are picking up the challenge to transcend and forge ahead with the challenge of a new world where information sieves allow us to challenge the old assumptions imposed by a Western-dominated media gatekeepers.

We will call it like it is --- when bias and racism as we see it, surface in the Western news media.

And we will not allow the notion of a Western "free press" take a free ride that only the West is capable of a "free and independent" press.

In our view, often, in the West, free may not be so free. What good is a free press when it is a biased, or recklessly irresponsible press ?

What good is it if Western reporters hear but do not listen ? look, but do not see ? report but do not feel ?

To lay the truth, the Western news media is now no longer capable of blockading nor filtering the news and spinning the narrative as they deemed "fit" through their biased Western prisms..... biases, prejudices, "White Man's Burden" and all.

All over the globe, with globalization, in the non-Western world, there is a cultural resurgence and reawakening.

Whether in ancient civilizations and societies, from India to Persia, from the Arab World to China, the stirrings of non-White intellectuals and netizens are resonating.

And we will part of this cultural resurgence and renewal.

This blog site is linked to Spatium Trientis, my "Third Space," 第三空间.

This blog site is dedicated to act as a media watchdog to monitor the spin of the Western news media, in the Anglo-lingual world, especially mainstream news media, print and broadcast.

We will critique news as they are being spun and woven through "Western" biased eyes and penmanship, with all of their "cultural bags and baggages."

We will be fair and conscientious in pointing out the "news" behind the "news" being spun by the Western press.

And we will be zealously vigilant in calling it like it is.

Dude ! We will be watching you from this blog site.

Those who would like to participate as a volunteer "watchdog," we welcome you.
